Now, at the end of the day, I am so tired from our activities. I can't wait to sleep in on Saturday and not have to get up at 6:00AM. We didn't have a ton of activities today, but the activities we did have were very extensive.

BLS Training
This was the main part of our day. We combined the virtual and physical training of CPR and it was a lot of fun. When practicing on the mannequin, we got to alternate between doing the AED and breaths and doing chest compressions. I was really good at chest compressions, and, with a lot of practice, I got good at using the AED and breath devices. It was interesting trying to maneuver the bag to give breaths. I thought that it was funny that I am already CPR certified, had to get certified again today, and will have to get certified once more in about a month and a half when school starts (but at least I get the practice). They mentioned the one-way mouth pieces for breaths, but we did not get to practice with them (for obvious reasons), but at least now I know what my Health Science teacher was talking about when she said that she gives all of her CNA/PCT students one at graduation. When doing compressions, my insulin pump kept coming off of my waist band and it would just dangle by my leg as I did compressions. The instructor came up and was confused because he thought that it was a pager (which I find a lot of people think) and he couldn't figure out why a teenager was carrying around a pager. Overall, the training was fun,,, tiring, but fun.

Interview Prep/Health Science Librarian
After the BLS training, we went to lunch and came back for interview prep. I found the interview prep really helpful and realized that I have two main things to work on: not using filler words and preparing my general answers ahead of time. The filler words will just come with practice, but my general answers for things such as: what is your greatest achievement? or what is your greatest failure? are just things that I need to remember before an interview. Our interns also showed us their resumes and explained what needs to go on a resume which really helped me because I have really only seen my mother's teaching resume. While seeing my mother's resume was helpful, it was also very stressful and overwhelming. There is so much experience on hers and I was always afraid of trying to write min. Our interns broke down the process and took everything piece by piece which really made each item easier to understand. I guess that I have never really asked my mom or anyone else to just explain how to write a resume and I guess it just never crossed my mind to ask for help. I also got to see the differences between a teaching resume and a medical-ish resume. It is so important to put shadowing experience on a resume for college and medical school. I really enjoyed this lecture because I felt like it slowed everything down and made it really easy to break down. We then had a lecture on being a Health Science Librarian. The lady was very sweet and had a lot of information to throw at us. One thing that I found really helpful was when she started to list accurate resources that she and doctor's use to find information. This will make it a lot easier in the future to find information for research projects or to just answer questions that I may have.
Quote of the Day
"...because nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can't-control-yourself love it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they're saying is 'you like stuff.' Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, 'you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness'." - John Green
Concluding Thoughts
While we did not do a ton today, what we did took a lot of my energy, and I can't wait to crawl into bed tonight. I greatly appreciated everything that we did today, and I know that each lecture and activity is going to stick with me for a long time. I can't wait to see what's in store for day five. I give day four 4 out of 5 stars.
